Michael Sonata will be performing his popular Frank Sinatra tribute show on New Year’s Eve at the Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana.

In 1943, Frank Sinatra was just 27 when he made his debut on the stage of the Hollywood Bowl. The adoring bobby soxers who filled the stands certainly knew they were witnessing the birth of a star, though they likely had no idea that both the singer and the venue would ultimately attain legendary status.

Just like national venues all across the country have done this year, the Dutch Village Inn in nearby Columbiana is paying tribute to the late singer’s celebrated 100th birthday anniversary (he was born on Dec. 12, 1915) with a special Big Band New Year’s Eve event featuring Michael Sonata, one of the country’s most sought-after Frank Sinatra tribute artists, and the popular Dave Banks Big Band.

“If you miss Guy Lombardo on new year’s eve, then this is the event for you,” said Rose Conrad from the Inn’s marketing and event department. “There will be dancing to a 12-piece orchestra playing all the hits from the big-band era and Michael will be singing Frank’s iconic songs,” she added, “and we’re also going to stylize the room to make it look like a 1940’s supper club where Frank would have performed and will also be serving a delicious five-course supper-club-inspired menu including prime rib and seafood.”

Another fun aspect of the event according to Conrad will be the open “vintage-style” non-alcoholic beverage station that will be open all night featuring soft drinks and popular cocktails of the 40’s. “We want to provide a more family-oriented and entertaining alternative to the celebration of new year’s eve that doesn’t include alcohol, and many people are embracing that concept, buying tickets and reserving their table now,” she said.

The evening begins at 8:00 pm with live dinner music on the piano while the meal is being served. The Sinatra show and dancing will begin at 9:00 pm and the evening will end with a sauerkraut & kielbasa buffet, a Midnight toast and a live feed from Times Square on a big-screen TV to watch the ball drop and ring in the new year.

Tickets are on sale now by calling the Inn at 866-482-5050, extension #412.

A special “Sinatra” discount is also available for overnight guest rooms for those who want to celebrate new years eve but don’t want to drive late at night.
