Abraham & Sarah

34-west

34west’s contemporary version of Abraham & Sarah is one of my personal favorite shows.  It is the biblical story of Abraham and Sarah but it is as though they’re traveling west on a wagon train and a literal Conestoga wagon will be on stage for the production.  34west has a way of bringing to life some of our favorite Bible stories in a way that we understand without losing sight of the original story.  It is filled with great humor and wonderful music, but still has moments that will bring tears to your eyes, such as the scene with Issac.

Valerie and Steve are the stars and do a very convincing job of acting out this wonderful touching story of Abraham and Sarah.

Book your tickets now, as the January and February shows may be the last run of Abraham and Sarah.  We get high marks for both our food and the entertainment.

Come enjoy a coffee… and sit by the fire.

I love to come to sit by the fire and enjoy my favorite coffee drink and visit with my friends.

The fire is warm and the hospitality is inviting.

Christmas at the Dutch Tulip

Dutch Tulip Blog — November 2011

Christmas at the Dutch tulip seems to come around faster and faster each year.  We are glad to be able to experience Christmas in our new location.  We have moved out of one room at the Dutch Village Inn and are now located in the former location of Bo’s Pet Shoppe.  We love the visibility and expanded space.

The Dutch Tulip has a beautiful selection of arrangements and wreaths for you to “Deck The Halls” in your home.  We especially enjoy making something one of a kind for your home.  Please stop in and see what we have to offer.

This year the exciting decorating idea is antique sheet music!  We cut petals from the music as well and form them into a Poinsettia bloom.  It is beautiful, creative and unique as well as “green”.  With everyone being conscious of not leaving a “footprint” this is using something old to make a new design.

We have also rolled the sheet music, layering it into a wreath.  We fashioned a poinsettia bloom, added some burlap and some icy cedar to complete a beautiful wreath.  It can be used to decorate your home year round or now in the Christmas season.

Christmas decorations make a lovely gift. Candy canes, sparkly, glittery red and white is a whimsical decorating staple.  The past few years we have enjoyed Dr. Seuss green sparkly items.  We love the curly ques and notions that create a one of a kind look.   A young couple planning a wedding in the next year would love a gift of holiday home decoration.    What a beautiful presentation a nativity set would be, to be cherished and enjoyed for years to come.

A few weeks ago we had our first Make-it and Take-it class here at the Tulip. We entertained a group of 13 ladies for the evening.  We made a vase of candy canes and called the event “Candy Cane Explosion.”  The vase could be used as a candleholder or as a vase to hold flowers.  It was absolutely darling.  The ladies took our instructions and their own creative resources and were able to create really fun and unique vases.

If you have a garden club or group of friends who would like a night out crafting, please keep us in mind for year round Mak-eit and Take-it design classes.  This would also be a fresh idea for a little girl’s birthday party activity. If your little girl is a princess we can arrange to have Cinderella or Belle come by for some crafting fun.  Please give us a call for more details, 330-482-5050.

Merry Christmas from the staff at the Dutch Tulip!

Jenny, Ellen, Renee, Monica, Nick, Lauren and sometimes Holly!

Having a Meeting? Here are some tips.

When You Choose, Choose The Dutch Village Inn

When choosing a venue for your next business meeting there’s more to consider than just the budget, according to Tracey Sevenich, event coordinator, at Columbiana Ohio’s Dutch Village Inn. “Make sure you know just what questions to ask when choosing a potential venue for your next business event,” she said.

“Making a list and checking it twice will ensure that you select the best possible location to accomplish the goals of your meeting before you sign on the dotted line,” she added. Noting that the venue you select can “make or break” your meeting, Sevenich suggested the “top ten” questions to ask yourself and your meeting planner before making the final all-important decision as to where to book your meeting, conference, or training session.

• Does the venue fit the company’s corporate image, will it appeal to your target audience and will the staff add to the attendees’ experience in a positive way?
• Is the venue easily accessible to those attending and will it provide a quiet, businesslike atmosphere?
• Are the meeting rooms large enough to provide a comfortable experience for those attending, are they well-ventilated and temperature controlled and laid out well to allow for good views of the speaker and for moving around without bottlenecks and delays?
• Does the venue have a variety of options from a large ballroom to smaller rooms for break-away meetings?
• Can the venue offer audio-visual equipment, wifi internet access and a photocopying and fax service?
• Can the venue provide meals and breaks with the ability to cater to vegetarians and those with specific dietary requirements?
• Is there adequate parking and and is it close by?
• Is the venue handicap accessible?
• Can the venue also provide overnight accommodations with leisure facilities like an indoor pool and workout room?
• Does the venue fall within your budget and are cost-effective meeting packages available as an option?
“At the end of the day you want to get the most out of your meeting and the venue you choose so take the time to choose carefully.” Sevenich advised. Don’t hesitate to ask for a full quote in advance and to visit the venue personally to get a first-hand impression of the layout, suitability and, most importantly, the attitude of the management and staff, she added.
